Piri-Piri and Jindungo

ajsmama: Thanks. He really wants to go to VA Tech but I'm afraid the aid won't be as good. We plan on him going to TT but hey, they could surprise us! He's a practical kid, he'll go the place that costs the least - in yesterday's WSJ article said doesn't matter Feb 3, 2016 8:02:53 GMT -5
ajsmama: for STEM majors, earnings pretty much even out so ROI is better for lower cost mid-tier schools than for big name schools. Though I'd like him to be only 8 hrs away... Feb 3, 2016 8:04:12 GMT -5
kuvaszlvr: if OU is Ok State, go to TT or VA Tech. much better schools. Feb 3, 2016 8:18:24 GMT -5
ajsmama: No, not State. It's University of OK in Norman (Sooners). But they haven't said yet if the will (can?) offer in-state tuition. TT offered in-state PLUS full tuition scholarship 1st year so we just have room board transportation books Feb 3, 2016 10:13:14 GMT -5 *
kuvaszlvr: Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant "OK State" as in the state of OK not OH (or even Oregon)- I shouldn't have capitalized "state". haha, unless I was a jock skip OU or OSU, that's all they care about. TT sounds like the way to go. Feb 3, 2016 10:27:51 GMT -5
ajsmama: He'd rather go to TTU than OU anyway. IDK why he applied to OU since we knew he was guaranteed admission to TTU. But yeah, the aid package from them is hard to beat. If he doesn't keep his grades up IDK if he loses the in-state tuition as well. Feb 3, 2016 10:34:00 GMT -5
kuvaszlvr: Curious, how did TT and OU come under his radar? Kinda far away. :( Feb 3, 2016 10:34:22 GMT -5
ajsmama: His aunt works at TTU - DH is from TX. And AJ wants to go far away from snow! Feb 3, 2016 10:35:06 GMT -5
kuvaszlvr: ah, ok, that makes sense, he's got ties. I wish we got more snow, we don't get near enough. So far only trace amount this year. :'( Feb 3, 2016 13:01:08 GMT -5
ajsmama: It's the only thing that makes me feel better about sending him so far away. Though I guess if he goes to OU he could still go to TX for Thanksgiving and spring breaks - or to your house ;-)? Feb 3, 2016 13:38:45 GMT -5
kuvaszlvr: Hey, if he doesn't mind eating in a house with 7 dogs, 2 cats, and a parrot, he's more than welcome! Feb 3, 2016 16:02:18 GMT -5
MikeUSMC: My 5 year old son just came home from Kindergarten and told me that, in his free time today, he took all of the red Legos and built a big hot pepper with a tail on it! (rofl) Starting him young, haha! Feb 3, 2016 18:13:23 GMT -5 *
ajsmama: ^ :) Mike Feb 3, 2016 18:25:39 GMT -5
ajsmama: ^^ Hey, he's used to the parrot. He's finally making friends with mine (she bit him was he was 4 or 5 and they've been wary of each other ever since). The dogs and cats may take some getting used to though ;) Feb 3, 2016 18:26:59 GMT -5
kuvaszlvr: What kind? Our lilac crown is a big sweetie, a bit shy with strangers and can get loud, but has never bit anyone in his 11 yrs. Oh he'll act like he's going to take a finger, then you say "Kiwi" and he goes, "I'm sorry." Feb 3, 2016 21:29:38 GMT -5
ajsmama: African Gray. She's a runt, and it was just a little nip, but it was enough to scare him, and that made them uncomfortable around each other for a decade. But now he takes her out of the cage to play every day when he comes home. Feb 3, 2016 21:39:54 GMT -5
ajsmama: She likes to nibble on fingernails, and will usually try to "feed" my finger, sometimes does it to DD. But she prefers to sit on an adult's finger, DD is too tiny and her arm is too weak to really hold her up. Feb 3, 2016 21:41:45 GMT -5
smokemaster: Ah parrots. Feb 4, 2016 1:35:53 GMT -5
smokemaster: One got me grounded as a kid.It was raised in a bar,had a dirty mouth.I called home one time to ask to stay where I was at.It started cussing in the background.Parents NEVER believed it was a bird doing the cussing... Feb 4, 2016 1:36:11 GMT -5 *
smokemaster: That bird knew the wrong things to say at the right time.Cousins had Geepers.13 kids.Geepers hated to be alone.Called out names until someone showed up. Feb 4, 2016 1:42:21 GMT -5
