I have plants of Piri-Piri and Jindungo. Theoretically both are the same C. Frutescens, and they are surely very similar, but I got much smaller peppers from Jindungo than Piri-Piri !! What do you think?
Hi Tony Nice to find you here! Yours are all growing by now, except the Xai Xai . I must sow them again. Perhaps I'll be more lucky this time! Especially for you, I'm posting a recipe of a Piri-Piri sauce at Carol's section! I hope you like it! And as I have flooded Jim with Piri-Piri seeds for the OF, I hope everybody will be enjoying it at the end of the season!
Hi Margarida!Good to hear from u!Sorry about the Xai Xai.Mine have sprouted just fine and I'll be posting pics soon.I hope your new batch is OK.Nice to see a post on this forum of the results as its my second year trying for this one. I'm putting this plant and a few others on some new nutes, should help with their progress, and if yours don't take we'll get you fixed up in a couple months. We are supposed to get down to 40 F tomorrow nite but i'm hopeing that is the ends of winter for us.Then all we have to worry about is spring storms and then...well I'm not gonna get into that By the way good morning! Its 1:30 here and I'm out!!!!!!!

woohooman: kchd: ajsmama, I'll send you some milkweed seeds if you live east of the Mississippi River. I don't have species that are native to the western US. East coast bias with sports and MILKWEED??? Bogus!

kchd: woohooman, Do you need some west coast milkweed? Are you feeling left out???

northof49: Make sure you are plating the correct milkweed and not the tropical milkweed.

woohooman: I need some native inland valley SoCal milkweed. I see that it attracts Monarchs. Any other beneficials it's great for attracting?
Feb 25, 2015 13:21:16 GMT -5
northof49: Not sure about down there but here I have a few Butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii) in my yard.
Feb 25, 2015 14:39:03 GMT -5
woohooman: northof49: we got them here. They're a bit too large for my liking though. Plus, I'm not really looking to attract butterflies. I'm actually wanting to attract pirate bugs, damsel bugs, and assassin bugs. Oh...and always lacewings!

southcountryguy: I wouldn't worry about where milkweed is local to send seed, you can buy it at any box store. One of the most, and I don't know why, attracting plants for bugs is Alyssum.
Feb 25, 2015 16:35:23 GMT -5
woohooman: SCG: Love alyssum! However, California is now dealing with infestations of the Bagrada Bug. And, alas, the pest is attracted to Alyssum. So, I pulled it all last fall when I saw some nymphs on my Kale.

ajsmama: Help! Aphids on my babies! Never had them this early before. What to do besides spray with water, squish, pot up and quarantine? Don't want to use insecticidal soap on such small plants!
Feb 26, 2015 11:03:30 GMT -5
kchd: Thank you, northof49! Tropical milkweed is garbage.
Feb 26, 2015 22:12:51 GMT -5
kchd: wahoo Keith: you have several native milkweed options in California. I'll look to see what I may have. I have a slight milkweed obsession. It's NOT a problem
Feb 26, 2015 22:17:17 GMT -5
woohooman: Stop calling me keith! C'mon! the two names don't even sound alike! I don't mind the wahoo so much, because i love the fish.

woohooman: Milkweed for ME? cool. Chaparral community. Inland san diego county. Not coastal, not northern. I'm a half hour to the beach, but also a half hour to the mountains and an hour to the desert. Much different then the coast though. Thanks!
